Volunteer Positions Description
Teaching aides (assistants) Assist teachers in the classroom with creative projects, classroom management, and preparation work for instruction.
Traffic Coordinator Coordinate volunteers to assist with parents dropping off and picking up their children in an orderly fashion and to ensure the safety and security of everyone.
Lunch coordinator Coordinate volunteers in setting up and tearing down the lunchroom and interacting with children to create a safe, clean, and pleasant dining experience.
Learning Zone coordinator Coordinate volunteers to assist parents and students find and use resources in the Learning Zone/Library
Clerical/receptionist Receive guests, answer telephones, and do typing, filing, etc.
Before/after school care Tutor kids, organize activities, sports, etc.
Arts assistants (music, art, dance, drama) Teach music, art, dance and drama.
Library assistants Assist Director of Instructional Services with setting up library, cataloging, and checking out resources. Also assisting patrons (parents, volunteers, teachers and students in using and finding resources).
Nurse Assist in organizing health records and then aiding children who need medical attention. Notify parents of health concerns of children and assist them in getting medical assistance.
Testing Assistant Assist with the administering a range of placement tests.
Readers/storytellers Read and tell stories.
Webpage developer Assist with the development and organization of the webpage
Foreign Language tutors Tutor students in foreign language development.
Speech therapist/audiologist Assess students speech and hearing and write developmentally appropriate plans.
Media coordinator (photographer) Capture the history of the schools' development for publications.
Security/safety officer Monitor school property to ensure safety of everyone. Help develop emergency procedures and protocols.
Family Support Coordinator Assist families who identified hardship needs. Act as a resource person to refer to services and ministries that can assist the family.
Community Service Coordinator Identify and coordinated service projects that families can do together. Organize the events and assess their effectiveness.
Custodial support Assist with set up and tear down of shared spaces from classroom environment to children's church.
Prayer intercessors Pray for everything and everyone at VWCS.
Tutors Tutor in all of the subject areas of elementary school: math, social science, science, and language arts.
Uniform exchange coordinator Coordinate the collection of uniforms, clean, inventory, and organize by size for redistribution.
